Biomedical Engineering is the branch of engineering that implements technologies in the medical field. It studies the physiological, anatomical, biochemical and biophysical behavior of the human being with the aim of proposing technological solutions to situations that alter a person's quality of life. It is mainly dedicated to the design and construction of medical equipment, prostheses, orthoses, biomedical devices, diagnostic, therapy and rehabilitation devices, as well as intervening in the management of technological resources linked to health systems. It is engineering at the service of health. The applicant to Biomedical Engineering at Universidad Autónoma de Occidente must be a person with a humanistic and service vocation, with an interest in improving people's health and quality of life through the design, application and management of biomedical technology. A creative and innovative person, sensitive to national and international social realities, with skills in basic sciences such as physics, chemistry and mathematics and with an interest in basic medical sciences such as anatomy and physiology.
