Offered majors: Public Discourse; Journalism and Cultural Communications; Editorship and Editing for Publishing Purposes; Literary Studies; Polish Language, Literature and Culture for Foreigners; Polish Language, Literature and Non-Literary Culture for Teachers; Creative Writing. When the major is chosen: candidates submit their declaration together with their application to the University. Offered foreign language courses: to be chosen from the offer of the Foreign Language Centre of the University of Silesia (the language course chosen by the student lasts 4 semesters) Characteristics of the programme: Polish Philology studies provide knowledge about the Polish language, the history of native literature and contemporary literary life. They teach independent intellectual activity, deep understanding of literary texts and other statements. A particular emphasis is also placed on the consequences of cultural changes for language and literature, as well as the relationship between these changes and other areas of socio-cultural life. The studies prepare for conscious participation in culture and for a reflective perception of civilisation changes.
