Higher School of Medicine in Sosnowiec - non-public university with its registered office in Sosnowiec, Niwka district, ul. Polish Army 6. It was founded by Danuta Obcowska, who until the time she was appointed chancellor. The University operates on the basis of Decision No DSW-2-064001-147 / 07 issued on 31.10.2007 by the Minister of Science and Higher Education. The Rector of the Medical School in Sosnowiec is prof. Dr hab. Andrzej Plech, MD It is taught by academic teachers with extensive professional and scientific experience as well as practitioners - doctors and nurses. Students use the library, theoretical and practical training, social security (scholarships for the disabled, social, scientific, and welfare) and work in the Student Scientific Society.The Medical School in Sosnowiec currently educates 609 students (as of 27 January 2015) in nursing (first-degree full-time, part-time and part-time full-time, part-time, A, B, C, D), obstetric (bridge) and medical rescue ( Non-stationary 1st degree). Since its founding, the university has educated 1639 graduates. The school also runs postgraduate studies and numerous specialist and refresher courses. University employees undertake research and publish scientific publications and represent the city and the university at scientific conferences in Poland and Europe. The College of Medicine has also published five books to provide readers with a theoretical knowledge base and answers to the pressing issues of nursing, obstetrics, gynecology and marketing of medical services.
