Objectives The aims of the Integrated Masters in Veterinary Medicine at the Lusófona University of Lisbon are to provide an adequate theoretical knowledge based on science and a high level of practical experience that will enable future graduates to treat and prevent animal diseases, to contribute to animal production while maintaining animal health and welfare, to protect public health from diseases transmitted by animals by ensuring the hygiene and safety of food of animal origin intended for human consumption. Career Prospects The main professional outlets of the integrated Master's degree course in Veterinary Medicine at the Lusófona University of Lisbon can be summarised, but are not exhaustive, in: - Veterinarian in companion animal clinics; - Veterinarian in Exotic and wild species; - Veterinarian in Sport Animal Clinics; - Veterinarian in livestock species; - Veterinarian in animal production and animal breeding companies; - Veterinarian in animal nutrition, feed and food production companies; - Veterinarian in animal medicine, biotechnology and diagnostics companies; - Veterinary Doctor in State Bodies responsible for sanitary inspection and food safety and quality control of products of animal origin; - Veterinary Doctor in the ambit of Technology of products of animal origin in companies (meat, milk, fish, egg companies, etc); - Veterinarian in the ambit of Quality and Food Safety in public or private companies of primary production, in industries of transformation, distribution and sale of food of animal origin; - Veterinary Doctor in National, European and International Bodies, responsible for regulatory action in Animal Health and Public Health; - Veterinary Doctor in Food Control Laboratories of the State or Companies; - Veterinarian in various aspects of Teaching and Research Admission Requirements Students may apply to this cycle of studies if they apply through the institutional admission exam and pass the following entrance examinations: 02 Biology and Geology Candidates may also apply through the regime of change of institution/course pair or through a Special Competition, according to the legal norms in force (holders of a Higher Education Course, holders of a Technological Specialization Course, holders of a Higher Technical Professional Course, or 23 years old or more). Applicants who meet the conditions set out in the International Student Statute may also enter.
