About the university
Criada pelo Decreto n.º 7/09, de 12 de Maio, do Conselho de Ministros, que estabelece e reorganiza a rede de instituições de ensino superior públicas, cria novas instituições de ensino superior (IES) e redimensiona a Universidade Agostinho Neto (UAN), a Universidade 11 de Novembro (UON) actua e expande-se na Região Académica III (Decreto n. 5/09, de 7 de Abril, do Conselho de Ministros). A Universidade 11 de Novembro, patronímico do dia da Independência Nacional, que resulta da evolução do Centro Universitário de Cabinda da UAN, criado em 1996, prevê no seu Plano de Desenvolvimento Institucional (PDI) uma estruturação e expansão em quatro Zonas de Ensino e Investigação (ZEI): Zona de Ensino e Investigação de Cabinda (predominância Ciências da Saúde); Zona de Ensino e Investigação de Mbanza Kongo (predominância Ciências Humanas); Zona de Ensino e Investigação de Buco Zau (predominância Engenharia agro-florestal e ambiental); Zona de Ensino e Investigação de Soyo (predominância Engenharia industrial).
