The follow-up Master’s degree programme in Applied Informatics develops the competencies of the Bachelor’s degree programme; a prerequisite for the applicants is a Bachelor’s degree. With the increasing demand for qualified experts, the aim of the follow-up Master’s degree programme in Applied Informatics is the education of university educated specialists – IT experts. The knowledge and operational excellence of the graduate is based on high-quality theoretical education combined with the application level of modern informatics practice in the context of both the corporate and the public sector. Students improve their information systems analysis, design and management skills, software and knowledge engineering skills; they gain insight into other related techniques and technologies and into the latest trends in information and communication technologies and systems (IS/ICT), such as XML, cryptocurrency technologies and business simulation platforms. New topics include Start-ups, the separate establishment of new innovative companies in ICT disciplines. Emphasis is put on hard skills, based on the nature of technology, as well as soft skills, reflecting the demand for IT expert’s personality development. In addition to a deep knowledge of the informatics environment, the graduate acquires presentation and communication skills, including the ability of communication in English. The graduate is able to lead project teams, work in a team and cooperate. The graduate profile corresponds to the broad application of graduates in ICT companies, IT departments and data centres of economic organizations, public administration organizations and others, including international corporations and foreign institutions. It is also possible to start a separate entrepreneurial activity in the field of information and communication technologies and systems. Relevant characteristic professions include: IS architect, ICT project manager, database specialist, ICT consultant, type application software implementer, security manager, ICT entrepreneur.
