About the university
The DFH has assumed an expert function for German-French university relations with the aim of strengthening cooperation between Germany and France in the field of higher education and research. It therefore promotes relations and exchanges between German and French universities, among other things, to ensure binational courses, doctoral programs and research programs. The German-French University (DFH) is a network of member schools from Germany and France. The university is an institution under international law and was founded in 1997 by a government agreement (" Weimar Agreement "). The agreement is the legal basis for this international institution of higher education and defines the institutions as well as the tasks. The agreement establishing the DFH entered into force in September 1999. The administrative center is Saarbrücken, the campus is decentralized.
