Kobe Design University is a private university in Kobe, Hyōgo, Japan. Kobe Design University intends to contribute to the promotion of social and cultural development through the use of knowledge, state-of-the-art technology, and expression. The institution is also involved in education and research to create new artistic expressions through practices to be carried out in collaboration with various industries. The university was founded in 1989 by the Tanioka Gakuen Educational Foundation, under the motto, “Training people who contribute to our world.” With its theme of the integration of science & technology and arts & culture,Kobe Design University upholds the following basic principles: 1) To offer courses on human,social and natural sciences, focusing on humanity and the history of human activities; 2) To improve students’ artistic sensibilities and expressive techniques enhanced by a good education; and 3) To foster designers, artists, and creators who can help enrich human life and culture.
