About the university
The Faculty of Economics was opened at the University in August 1953, with 52 students enrolled in the "National Economy Planning" and "Finance" specialties. During the period 1964-1977, the Faculty of Economics was part of the Polytechnic Institute of Chisinau, and in 1977, at the State University of Chisinau, was opened a second faculty of economic profile - "Economics of Commerce and Merceology", founded Based on the Chisinau branch of the Moscow Union Trade Union Institute (1960-1977). In this context, the academicians Boris Melnic and Sergiu Rădăuţan had a high contribution to the development of the university economic education in Moldova since their establishment over 50 years, The deans of the Economics and Economics of Commerce and Merceology faculties Marlen Makeenko, Ivan Mocan, Mihail Caraus, Petru Secrieru, Viorel Turcanu and other personalities. An indisputable role in achieving the achievements of the institution was given to the two rectors of ASEM - the university professors Paul Bran and Eugeniu Hriscev, as well as to the entire staff of teachers, administrative and auxiliary staff.
