About the university
VID University of Science is a Norwegian university of science founded on January 1, 2016 through a merger of the Missionary College in Stavanger, Haraldsplass Diaconal College in Bergen, Bergen University College of Bergen and Diakonhjemmet University College in Oslo and Sandnes. The university college has 3 300 students and 340 employees, and is Norway's second largest private college, after BI Norwegian Business School. The letters VID represent the values the school is based on: Scientific, International and Diakonal. The name of the college was published at a press conference on September 9, 2015. The college is owned by the Norwegian Missionary Firm, The Norwegian Diakon Home, Haraldsplass Diakonale Foundation and the Foundation Betanien Bergen. The chairman is Paul Erik Wirgenes. In 2017, a further merger will be planned with Diakonova College.
