About the university
OsloMet was established on 1 August 2011 by the former state colleges University College in Oslo and Akershus University College were merged. Both of these were the result of Colleges shape in 1994. In 2014 and 2016, the former independent state research institutes Work Research , Norwegian Social Research , Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research and National Institute for Consumer Research merged with OsloMet in a separate unit, the Center for welfare and working research. OsloMet provides education and conducts research in fields such as health sciences, social sciences, engineering, art and design, languages, pedagogy and teacher training.
