About the university
The University of Piura (acronym: UDEP / udepiura) is a private university located in the cities of Piura and Lima, Peru. It was founded in the city of Piura on April 7, 1969, on the initiative of St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, founder of Opus Dei. It is a work of the corporate apostolate of Opus Dei, that is, Is an institution promoted by people of Opus Dei and many others, Catholic and non-Catholic, where the themes of formation are morally guaranteed by the Opus Dei Prelature. This reality does not change at all the civil nature of the University of Piura. That is to say, The full responsibility for its management and direction always lies with the UDEP, and not with the Prelature of Opus Dei.
