The National University Hermilio Valdizán , abbreviated UNHEVAL, is a Peruvian public university with headquarters in the city of Huánuco. It has subsections in four provinces of the homonymous department. The National University Hermilio Valdizán was created on January 11, 1961, within the framework of a historic civic - popular assembly convened by the Committee Pro Communal University, chaired by the illustrious Huanuco. Dr. Javier Pulgar Vidal. This assembly took place in the house of the hero Leoncio Prado Gutierrez. It began a path of struggle in favor of the culture and development of the town of Huánuco. It was born as a Community College subsidiary of the Communal University of the Center (now National University of the Center of Peru), in virtue of Law No. 13827, of January 2, 1962, promulgated under the government of Don Manuel Prado Ugarteche. It began its operation with the creation of the faculties of Education, Natural Resources and Economic Sciences, being its first Rector Dr. Javier Pulgar Vidal. Faced with the clamor of the university community and the population of Huanuco, who asked for the autonomy of the Communal University of Huánuco, the Congress of the Republic was managed to become a National University; A longing that was finally achieved during the government of the architect Fernando Belaúnde Terry, with the enactment of Law No. 14915, of February 21, 1964, with which the National University Hermilio Valdizán is created, named in honor of that illustrious Huanuco, doctor, psychiatrist, of recognized national and international prestige. Currently, the National University Hermilio Valdizán has a modern infrastructure in the University City of Cayhuayna, which puts it at the height of the best universities in Latin America. Its cloisters provide a quality education that contributes to the development of the Huánuco Region and the country through professional academic training, research, social projection and university extension, and postgraduate studies. The National University Hermilio Valdizán is a quarry of men who contribute to the formation of a free, just and solidary society that, through the creation of knowledge with social relevance and ethical content, seek the technological sciences and the humanities to put themselves at the service of the human person, in order to provide economic well-being and legal security.
