About the university
It was created on February 17, 1964, by Law No. 14912, from this year began to function as an academic and administrative body, occupying the land of the former Experimental Agricultural Station of Tingo Maria, transferred to the nascent University by the Ministry Of Agriculture. His organization was in charge of the National Universities Mayor of San Marcos and Agraria La Molina. The organizing committee concluded the inauguration of the National Agrarian University of the Jungle, on April 3, 1965, thus beginning the academic work. Agronomy and Zootechnics faculties began to function as academic organisms. It starts with two Agronomy and Animal Science faculties with a total of 35 students in 1964, with 1,500 students in 1994. At present, UNAS has six (6) faculties: Agronomy, Animal Science, Food Industries, Natural Resources, Economics, Informatics And Systems and Postgraduate School, totaling an average of 2633 students in 2006. Following the evolutionary history, it is necessary to highlight the growth of the student population until today.
