Studies in the degree programme of Computer Science, conducted at the Faculty of Science and Technology, teach the ability to create new solutions in the field of computer science and not only a reproductive use of ready-made tools. The graduates are adequately prepared in terms of the canon of computer science which is unchangeable in time and covers its theoretical foundations and necessary mathematical basis, as well as reliable preparation as regards basic programme subjects, including architecture and the principles of IT system and computer network functioning, algorithmics and the basics of programming. The students learn system design methods, including database design, learn how to apply them in practice, how to choose appropriate methods and tools for specific problems and how to take care of system security and data protection. Contemporary applications pose not only classical challenges to computer scientists but also require creativity in the field of computer science, i.e. the ability to solve non-trivial problems requiring the use of methods and techniques classified as artificial intelligence. The students are introduced to the methods of management with complex (difficult-to-solve) problems, data analysis methods, knowledge discovery techniques or creating systems with the knowledge base. The degree programme is accredited by the Polish Accreditation Committee, which guarantees the highest level of studies and gives a full opportunity to benefit from the knowledge of qualified academic staff. Due to the cooperation with IT companies, studies at the Faculty of Science and Technology are related to many additional projects in the form of workshops, trainings and conferences, due to which students gain practical knowledge indispensable in the job market. Students can participate in Oracle, Microsoft and Cisco Academy programmes.
