During the 1st cycle studies in Applied Geology you will gain broad knowledge in the field of Earth sciences. The duration of studies is 7 semesters, ending with the Eng. degree in Geology. You can continue your education at three-semester Master’s degree studies. These studies will enable you to take up work in industry, management and administration in work positions related to geology, environmental protection and spatial management. After completing the 3rd cycle studies you can also develop your scientific career. What will you learn? what geological processes occur on Earth, what factors shape the lithosphere, how and in what conditions rocks are formed, what the spatial diversity of earth’s crust is like and where it comes from, what the origin of mineral deposits is and how they are searched for, how geological maps and other 3D models are created, how to carry out measurements of geological structures, create and read maps, how to cooperate with specialists in the field of spatial development, construction, planning and management, what the current problems of environmental protection are and how we can take care of our planet together, as well as that geology is also an environmental science, how to use water (do you know that water can be blue, but also green and grey?), and how to defend ourselves against it when necessary, how ground cooperates with a building, what methods we can use to examine it and why a builder also has to be familiar with geology, what benefits we get from the Earth, how we recognise and use them, what instruments are used to study minerals, rocks and other geomaterials and how wide their application in economy is, how to develop computer geological models and what possibilities to predict phenomena, processes and actions they provide, what you have to know in the field of physics, chemistry, mathematics and law to navigate easily in the world of geology, as well as that it is neither difficult nor boring at all.
