In the face of ongoing changes, the first-cycle degree programme titled Socio-cultural Animation with Cultural Education provides a multifaceted educational offer for future cadres for culture. The study programme takes into account proven content and forms of teaching, including: 1. the basics of philosophy, sociology (including the sociology of culture), pedagogy, culture in general, and contemporary culture in its most important phenomena and processes, 2. acquainting the students with the specificity of individual artistic disciplines (literature, theatre, film, art, music, dance), their reception and popularisation (also in institutional forms), 3. introduction to the media-related issues, and cultural heritage on a local, regional, national and European level. At the same time, the courses that equip future animateurs and educators of culture with knowledge, skills and social competence needed in the cooperation with various entities (public, market, non-governmental organizations) and prepare them to participate in social and cultural projects related to local, regional, national and European development are also included in the programme. Various interests of students and their individual predispositions are taken into account and, consequently, practical and field classes, including creative camps and participation in artistic workshops (related to theatre, art, music and dance), are included to a greater extent than in classical education programmes. A graduate of Socio-cultural Animation with Cultural Education programme has qualifications to: • work in cultural institutions (cultural centres, institutions for the promotion of culture, such as educational departments, institutions developing creative activity among children, adolescents and adults, work with audience), • work in cultural departments of local governments, • work in non-governmental organizations related to culture, • conduct additional (extra-curricular) activities for children and adolescents, • organize activities for people of various age groups and environments, also through programmes aimed at tourists, • develop and implement various types of projects related to cultural and educational activities in the local, regional, national and European perspective, • develop and implement projects based on intergenerational contact and cooperation, including projects whose aim is to include seniors in various forms of activity, • develop and implement activities in the field of socio-cultural animation of the groups which are at risk of pathology and social exclusion, • create original forms of activity and projects related to socio-cultural animation and cultural education.
