About the university
The State Higher East European School in Przemysl was established in 2001 (initially under the name of the State Higher Vocational School). It is a place of higher education, located in Przemysl, near the Ukrainian border (15 km). Przemysl is a city with rich traditions, the influence of Western and Eastern civilization has been touched here for centuries, which is reflected in the history and architecture of the city. From the beginning of its existence, Jews, Germans, Hungarians, Armenians, Italians, Scots, Irish and French settled here, alongside Poles and Ukrainians. The Eastern European State School in Przemysl refers to centuries old traditions of openness and tolerance of the region. By educating students in the fields of humanities and technology, PWSW provides a solid education, useful in the Polish and European labor market and plays an important cultural role in the border region of south-eastern Poland, on the border with the European Union. Since 2006, under the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Poland, it already functions under the name of the State Higher School of East Europe. At the beginning of its activity, the PWSW was a humanist school, referring to the oldest academic traditions of Przemysl: a 15th-century school (with the rector nominated by the Cracow Academy), and a 17th-century Jesuit college. Since 2009 she has also taken up engineering courses.
