About the university
Odessa Maritime Academy has long and well known in the global maritime community. Over the years since 1944 our school had different names: Odessa Higher nautical School (OVMU), Odessa Higher Naval Engineering School (OVIMU) Odessa State Maritime Academy (Ogma) Odessa National Maritime Academy (ONMA), National University "Odessa Naval Academy "(NU" OMA "). Throughout history universities ensured professionalism scientific-pedagogical personnel, standards of education and practical training of students that meet international and national requirements. NU "OMA" is the leading educational, scientific and methodological center that determines the strategy and prospects of maritime education in Ukraine. The main objective of the University is to ensure competitiveness of the global labor market. NU "OMA" is an active member of the International Association of Maritime University (IAMU), Black Sea Association of Maritime Institute (BSAMI). University representatives regularly participate in the assemblies, committees and subcommittees of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as part of the official delegations of Ukraine and the International Association of Maritime University. In 2015 the Academy has been involved in various international research projects funded by the European Commission: MARINE, CruiseT, TATU, QANTUS.
