About the university
In 1930, based on the construction of Kharkov Polytechnic Institute (KPI) and the Faculty of Architecture of the Kharkov Art Institute based institution of higher education Kharkov Civil Engineering Institute (Hibiya). In 1934 part of Hibiya include: Kharkov geodetic institute and the Research Institute of Geodesy and Cartography. In 1941 1734 students, classes were about 200 teachers at 4 faculties: architectural; the Construction; Plumbing; Geodesic. In 1944 Hibiya was transformed into the Kharkov mining industrial institute of Coal Industry of the USSR (HHII). Faculties: Engineering (2 specialties: mountain mechanical engineering and engineering technology); Mining electromechanical; industrial transport. In 1947 the Kharkov mining industrial institute was transformed to the Kharkov Mining Institute of the USSR Ministry of Higher Education. Faculty: Mining; shahtobudivelnyy; Mining electromechanical; industrial transport.
