About the university
March 9, 1928 at the meeting of Kharkiv Institute of Education were presented and discussed memorandum Faculty of Political Education about the need to transform the latter into an independent institution. Almost a year September 10, 1929 Department was reorganized into the Institute of Political Education. It enrolled 140 students. In August 1930 the Institute was named Kharkov Institute of Political Education, and during the year - Ukrainian Communist Institute of Education. It is composed of seven faculties: library, knyhoposhyrennya, school-course, museum, sightseeing (tourism), atheistic, ahitmasovyy. In July 1935 the Institute was transformed into the Ukrainian Library Institute, consisting of faculty training of public libraries and faculty training librarians for children. In mid-1939 the All-Union Committee for Higher School adopted the Charter of the Kharkov Institute Library, under which the institute was named "public".
