About the university
State Economy and Technology University of Transport - one of the oldest universities in Ukraine. The roots of its history date back to 1898, when engineers began preparing railroad KPI. The first issue of railroad engineers took place in 1903 (12 in the specialty "Railways" and a specialty "Bridges"). In addition, in September 1909 opened the railway of the Kiev higher commercial courses in technical sciences and the "economy of Railways", and from June 1912 granted the status of a higher educational institution and renamed the Kyiv Commercial University. In 1929, the People's Commissariat of Enlightenment Ukraine organized in Kiev Institute of Railway Engineers (KIISHS) of five faculties. A year KIISHS was reorganized pursuant to Decree of People's Commissars of USSR number 19/672 of July 12, 1930 began to work 5 separate higher education institutions: Kyiv Railway Institute in the 2 departments, Dnepropetrovsk railway institute consisting of 3 departments, Kyiv Institute of river transport consisting of 3 faculties Odessa Institute of maritime transport in the 2 departments, the Kharkov Institute of track with 4 faculties (from January 1, 1934 - HIIT). During the mass arrests 30s of the twentieth century. a significant number of higher education institutions that have ceased to exist and was Kyiv Railway Institute. So Kyiv Institute of Transportation Engineers in 1934 was merged with the Kharkiv Institute of Railway Engineers. In fact KIIT included in HIIZT. Since 1951 was founded Educational and Consulting Center of All-Union Correspondence Institute of Railway Engineers. Only July 14, 1966 organized a branch in HIITu. Kiev. In 1968 in the Kiev branch of the Kharkov Institute of Transportation Engineers resumed specialty "Economics and organization of railway transportation."
