The Psychology program is rigorous and flexible. You will have personalized attention, a wide range of courses, varied research and internship opportunities and excellent scientific facilities. Canisius offers two separate Psychology degrees; a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology. The choice of which degree to pursue depends on your desired outcome. Why Pursue a BA In Psychology: • You are planning on going straight into the workforce after completing your undergraduate degree • You are interested in the field of Social Work or Mental Health Counseling • You plan on going to graduate school in a non-psychology field such as business, law, or management Why Pursue a BS In Psychology: • You are interested in a more science-based curriculum • You plan to earn a graduate degree in psychology • You plan to go to medical school or are interested in a career in the field of healthcare • You are interested in taking a wider range of science-related courses In addition, choose from more than five minors that will enable you to specialize in an area of particular interest such as neuropsychology, organizational, forensic, school or sports psychology. Specially designed programs in the aforementioned minors, and other professionally directed experiences, will train you in a specific area and help you better plan post-graduate careers. A variety of internships leading to jobs and career opportunities are available as well as research opportunities with faculty members to supplement classroom learning. Students can leave prepared to enter careers in such fields as social work, social services, clinical and cognitive neuropsychology, education, law and more.
