Location
Genetics and Bioengineering is one of the fastest growing disciplines and there is an increasing need for geneticists and bioengineers shaped with contemporary engineering standards. We aim to train open-minded geneticists and bioengineers, aware of local and global problems, and sensitive about ethical issues. The program focuses on practical applications of theoretical framework supplied at the undergraduate level, building upon the research arm and developing industry-specific practices. Cooperation with the industry is one of the main aims of the program in order to add to solution-finding skills and a mindset of research-backed practicality. 10 M.Sc. Projects are available in GBE: Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yildirim Detection of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) Analysis of plant genetic variation by molecular genetic markers Assist. Prof. Dr. Mirza Suljagic Establishing in vitro model of oral mucositis Prof. Dr. Sabina Semiz Genetics of Type 2 Diabetes Bioethics and Genetic Counseling Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayla Arslan Genetic Engineering of nervous system receptors (GABA A receptors) Expression analysis of recombinant receptors in mammalian cell lines Establishment and optimization of mammalian cell culture Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Ragab Abdel-Gawwad Bioinformatic analysis of DNA repair proteins and their interactions in A. thaliana Yeast-two-hybrid studies for experimental analysis DNA repair interactome of A. thaliana
