The Doctoral Programme: «Drug Research and Development» originated from the conversion of the programme with the same name which began to be offered in the University of Santiago de Compostela in academic year 1999-2000. As of academic year 2004-2005, it has been awarded the Mention of Quality from the Department of Education (MC2004-00359). This programme relies on very active groups within Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmacology and in the Industrial Pharmacy Institute. These centres offer both major material and human infrastructure, the result, to a great extent of the resource capturing capacity of these research groups. Additionally, the scientific activity that the researchers that are part of them have been developing in the centres where they are located. All this constitutes an high solid academic and scientific support for the training of doctors specialised in this field.
