About the university
The Kunsthochschulgesetz offers the art academies in NRW the best conditions and guarantees a high degree of autonomy. In the academic field, in particular, there is a self-administration right that allows art schools to create tailor-made organizational structures. The Kunstakademie Münster has opted for a rectorate constitution within the scope of your self-administration law. Rector Prof. Maik Löbbert heads the university and decides with the Rectorate on all matters of the university which are not expressly assigned to another institution. Due to the size of the university, the formation of disciplines with its own committees has deliberately been dispensed with. At the same time, the path for a lean and immediate decision-making and communication structure is prepared and this is also an essential characteristic of the university. As a rule, each university member can also seek direct contact with the decision-makers without an appointment agreement. The Rectorate is composed of the Rector, Chancellor Frank Bartsch, and the Vice Rectors.
