The Catholic College of Church Music in Rottenburg (officially the College of Church Music of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart) is an ecclesiastical art college in Rottenburg on the Neckar, called "Institutum Superius Musicae Sacrae". The institution of the university is the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart. The College of Church Music was founded on 11 November 1997. The then Bishop Walter Kasper raised the church music school Rottenburg founded in 1972 to the university (predecessor: 1928 St. Meinradheim, 1949 bishops' music school). On 22 November 1997 the founding of the Pontifical Congregation for Education Pio Cardinal Laghi was confirmed. Since then, the university has been called "Institutum Superius Musicae Sacrae".
