Sociology B.A programme is focused on general sociological knowledge of contemporary society. The Sociology curriculum covers, among other things, the following courses: introduction to sociology, introduction to psychology, elements of philosophy, social demography, social psychology, statistical methods in sociology, introduction to jurisprudence, social policy, sociology of development, sociological research methods, the elements of economics, contemporary Polish society, societal macro- and microstructures, cultural anthropology, English, and IT classes. Undergraduate students take part in obligatory fieldwork. The aim of the programme is to provide students with knowledge, skills and competencies, which are indispensable to understand and make diagnosis of social phenomena, processes and problems. Sociology graduates are also able to use basic sociological theories and categories to interpret and explain social changes. They can accumulate their knowledge and improve their scientific skills. Graduates are able to use their theoretical knowledge in practice, in projecting and carrying out surveys, leading social campaigns or in human resources management. Sociological knowledge is supplemented with elements of philosophy, logic, ethics, and psychology. Such an interdisciplinary perspective can be used to solve problems that can appear in future professional life. Students are also prepared to participate in social changes on local, regional and supra-regional level, as their attitudes towards society are pro-social. Furthermore, each graduate acquires some specific skills and knowledge connected with one of the following specializations: Urban and Region Sociology, Sociology of Advertising and Social Communication, Knowledge of Contemporary Society, Sociology of Organization and Management.
