Majors: molecular biophysics bioelectronics dispensing optics and optometry Characteristics of the programme: Biophysics is an interdisciplinary programme combining knowledge in the field of biology, physics and chemistry. Full-time first-cycle studies in the degree programme of biophysics last 6 semesters and finish with the preparation of a diploma thesis and obtaining a bachelor’s degree. During their studies, students gain general knowledge and skills in the field of higher mathematics, experimental physics, including optics and medicine, chemistry and biology. Lectures are combined with laboratories enabling experimentation and combine knowledge and practice, which significantly facilitates the understanding of the relationship between theory and experience as well as between individual fields of science. Students gain comprehensive knowledge of the physical and chemical processes taking place in cells and tissues, as well as professional knowledge of molecular physics, quantum chemistry, crystal chemistry of proteins and biochemistry, which enables understanding of the phenomena at the molecular level. Particular attention is paid to the biophysical processes occurring in cells. In the case of the major known as dispensing optics and optometry, the emphasis is put on wave and geometric optics, physiological optics, dispensing optics and the basics of optometry, i.e. refraction or binocular vision.
