About the university
Ateneo University San Pacià was canonically erected on 1 October 2015 in the city of Barcelona, through Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, come expressly from Rome to sign ne publicly constitution. The Holy See has agreed thus the request made by Cardinal Lluís Martínez Sistach, Archbishop of Barcelona, Chancellor of the three ecclesiastical faculties that already existed in this city: the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia (1968), the Faculty of philosophy of Catalonia (1990) and the Faculty of Antoni Gaudí Church History, Christian Archeology and Arts (2014). And culminates a process of almost half a century has led to the creation of a powerful university dedicated exclusively to ecclesiastical studies and directly linked to the Church of Barcelona and, through it, with the other dioceses have based in Catalonia.
