The Differentiated Instruction program prepares you to specialize in meeting the needs of learners in mixed ability classrooms. You will learn to challenge all students, including gifted students, English language learners, and students who struggle in school. The program can be completed in one year and meets the master’s degree requirements for permanent or professional teacher certification in New York State. It also meets requirements for a certification extension in Gifted Education. You will participate in the college’s week-long summer practicum and apply your teaching skills in a summer camp for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade.
