Enroll in this program if you have no prior certification and are seeking both Adolescence Certification and Certification in Special Education at the graduate level. Note that you must have an approved concentration in English, math, social studies, business, science or a language. The program prepares you for Adolescence (Grades 7-12) and Special Education certification (SWD 7-12). You will study psychological and social factors along with techniques proven effective for teaching young adults at these grade levels with diverse learning needs. Coursework includes human growth and development in adolescence, transition issues for students with disabilities, autism spectrum and intellectual disabilities, and differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
