The music major offers University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point students intensive training with a world-class faculty in state-of-the-art facilities. The program, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, offers a solid core of music study including music theory/musicianship, jazz studies, applied performance study, and large ensemble participation. Electives are available for the curious! UW-Stevens Point’s music program has every student take a course in music composition. Many students continue composition studies and activities even when they had no previous composition experience. Students in the music performance program learn to work in teams and to have an entrepreneurial mindset. Graduates become outstanding •Performer, Musician, Singer •Music Director •Composer •Concertmaster •Accompanist •Recording artist •Conductor •Private Teacher Students can also be involved in music merchandizing, music-related software development or management of artists or artistic organizations. Some move on to graduate programs in music therapy. Quite a few graduates are successful composers in composition-related fields.
