Proposed forms of teaching include lectures, seminars, bachelor, specialization and MSc practical trainings, laboratory classes, listening classes as well as field classes. The workshops and Master’s projects are conducted in the modern, well-equipped laboratories or in the field, while the seminars provide essential theoretical support on how to plan research experiments and how to prepare, discuss and present Master’s thesis. Besides, the curriculum of this degree scheme contains courses from the following disciplines that are common and obligatory for all students, i.e. plant and animal phylogenetics and taxonomy, selected aspects of the ecology, mechanisms of evolution and bioethics. The important component of the curriculum is also to familiarise a student with modern information technology as well as with the application of statistical tools in life sciences. Apart from the obligatory courses, which compose a main scaffold of the curriculum, numerous facultative courses are offered, enabling individual profiling of the educational path of the students according to their interests and preferences and in connection with the chosen specialisation. This offer is additionally supplemented by a plethora of courses from related fields of study, such as biotechnology and environmental protection.
