MCAD’s furniture design major blends craft and design. In this major you develop traditional craft techniques alongside alternative materials exploration. Using current digital technologies, your problem-solving skills are nurtured and critical thinking is expected. You develop a strong commitment to professional practice through exposure to the professional world of furniture design. Cross-pollination with other practices, including sculpture, gives you the tools to create unique and authentic work. From your first compositions and critiques to real-world work experiences, the BFA curriculum is a systematic process that transforms you from an MCAD student into a creative professional.
