The Interior Design program is one of the oldest established majors at KCAD, with a continual high professional placement record among its alumni. The Interior Design program has been accredited by The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) since the early 70s. CIDA is the only accrediting body for interior design programs in the United States and Canada. Students focus on creative problem solving to enhance the function and aesthetic quality of interior environments and study universal and sustainable design principles in residential and commercial projects. Their work is comprehensive, incorporating design, drawing, art history, general education, technical skills, and interior design knowledge. The Interior Design faculty members are practitioners as well as educators and believe that the broad cultural aspects of education and the specialized content unique to interior design are essential to a well-educated student and professional.
